About Me
With a BS in Psychology and an MA in Professional Counseling, I have been in the counseling field for over a decade. I am an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in both Georgia and South Carolina, and an LAC (Licensed Addictions Counselor) in South Carolina. I began my career as a counselor working in a drug and alcohol facility for 8 years. I provided individual and group therapy to adolescents and adults, helping them find their pathway to recovery. I was trained in trauma recovery and empowerment with a high focus on incorporating mindfulness into the healing process. I eventually had the opportunity to work at a university providing mental health counseling to college students. With the age of onset for many mental health disorders being around 18, college students are faced with a number of struggles and benefited greatly from having a counseling center on campus. During my time at the university, I started working part-time in the private practice sector, ultimately opening my own practice, Pathways to Inspiration. May of 2023 will end my career at the university, enabling me to provide teletherapy on a full-time basis.
My experience in all of these counseling settings has enabled me to work with a diverse amount of issues - anxiety, depression, adult ADHD, addiction, trauma, life transitions/adjustments, and codependency to name a few. I have an eclectic approach, incorporating evidence based practices, such as CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy) and EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy), with the qualities that mindfulness teaches us into the counseling setting. I enjoy helping my clients learn how to set boundaries, break free from codependent behaviors, process and heal from trauma, understand and manage big emotions, create healthy habits, and develop skills to meet whatever goal they may set for themselves.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important elements in the counseling process. So much of therapy is about finding your fit, and you need to feel comfortable and safe to engage in this work. I provide a nonjudgmental and empathetic approach that allows me to connect with and walk alongside my clients. Teletherapy sessions are relaxed and informal, and my clients appreciate my approachability and sincerity (and sometimes my humor)! The connections between humans built in therapy have the greatest power to create change, and I'm honored to get to be a part of this process.
About Me
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” VIktor Frankl
The therapy process begins with an assessment, treatment planning, and individual therapy sessions to help you meet your goals. How long this takes depends on your individual needs and desires. Many people experience some relief within the first six months and others require more time to develop longer lasting changes. Therapy is a collaborative process, so I invite you to bring any questions or concerns to me so we can discuss it openly. I will always try my best to honor your needs and wishes. If you're curious about whether we would work well together, don't hesitate to schedule a free consultation to see if we are a good fit.
I offer teletherapy sessions, which allows you to experience counseling from the convenience and privacy of your home on your own personal device. Sessions are conducted via HIPAA compliant platforms, and schedules and location are no longer an obstacle. I see clients in both South Carolina and Georgia from adolescents to adults. I only offer individual services, and I do not see couples or families. Requirements for teletherapy include a fast internet connection and webcam, and a confidential space. Teletherapy may be a good fit if you have an incredibly busy schedule, struggle with physical or mental health issues that make it difficult for you to leave your home, are concerned about the risk of being seen walking into a clinic, or are in a place where therapeutic services are not offered. Online therapy is not suitable for all individuals or issues, so schedule your free consultation to see if online therapy is a right fit for you.
